Susie Heller has been involved in varying aspects of the food world for 30 years. Her 20-year career in food media has spanned television and cookbook production as she has worked with a wide network of top chefs across the country including Jacques Pépin, Julia Child, Thomas Keller, José Andrés, Charlie Trotter, Michael Chiarello and over 50 top chefs who have appeared on the shows she has produced.
On television, Susie has garnered production credits on numerous Emmy winning television series, including her own series, Susie Heller’s Table and Cooksmart. She has worked with Jacques Pépin on seven series and specials since 1985, most recently as Producer of his public television series Fast Food My Way. She had a close relationship both professionally (as her culinary producer) on Cooking with Master Chefs, From Julia’s Kitchen with Master Chefs, Jacques and Julia Cooking at Home, Cooking in Concert I and II, and personally with Julia Child. In 1999, after moving to the Napa Valley, Heller served as Executive Producer for two seasons of the series Michael Chiarello’s Napa
Susie has co-authored Thomas Keller’s books, The French Laundry Cookbook (winner of 3 IACP book awards, including Book of the Year), Bouchon and Under Pressure (fall, 2008). In addition, she served as VP Media for NapaStyle where she produced books for Michael Chiarello including Casual Cooking and Napa Stories. Recent books include The Essence of Chocolate with Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker (winner of Beard award for Best Single Subject Cookbook) and Happy in the Kitchen with chef Michel Richard.
She lives in the Napa Valley with her husband Tom Stauffer and Labradoodle, Marley.
